About Us: CAC in the Community
Located in Cranbury Town Hall, the gallery is open and free to the public, and features a new exhibit and artist reception each month. The gallery also offers an "Art in the Park" plein air series for artists.
Every June, CAC provides two $100 awards to eighth-grade students at the Cranbury School. The Tamara Woronczuk Art Award and the John McClernan Music Award are given to recognize dedication and talent in art and music, respectively. We also provide framing for a piece of artwork created by the art award winner, which is then hung in the Cranbury School student gallery.
CAC gives a $1000 Excellence in the Arts Award to a graduating senior from Cranbury who has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication to the arts. Students with interests in the areas of visual arts, music (including instrumental and vocal), theatre arts, dance, and poetry are all eligible to apply for this award.
CAC offers a four-week, non-profit summer camp for children in Grades K-9, with over 50 different offerings each year. The camp features a wide variety of programs in art and design, musical theater, technology, creative thinking, and much, much more. Children from all communities are welcome, and need-based scholarships are available for all camps.
Kids Theatre Company Fall Musical Theater Workshop
CAC offers a fall musical theater production for children in Grades 3-8. Past productions have included The Nutcracker Prince, Elf, The Musical Jr., A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Peter Pan and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.
Our first-ever Halloween Festival (and Trail of Terror) was held in October, 2017. The festival provided an opportunity for members of the community to demonstrate their creative talents in a variety of ways, including creating spine-chilling scenes for the festival's Trail of Terror. The event featured live music, food, activities for children, and more.
Student Film Festival
CAC sponsors a film festival for students in middle and high school. Original films are screened in Gourgaud Gallery.
Cranbury School Mandala Project
Since 2013, CAC has sponsored the installation of mandalas made by graduating eighth-grade students. The mandalas are installed in panels in the school's atrium.
Every December, CAC sponsors a free ornament-decorating activity during the Cranbury Lions Club Pancake Breakfast. We also participate in Cranbury Day each September, and Cranbury Municipal Alliance's Health and Wellness Fair in May.
Every other year, the CAC sponsors a fundraising event featuring a silent auction of beautiful works of art donated by local artists.
